One of the 12 activists on board the Madleen has posted an update on their progress, saying the mission would not be deterred by Israel’s threats to block them. In a video posted to X, Thiago Avila said the crew, which includes high-profile climate activist Greta Thunberg, was not intimidated by a message they had received from Israel on Thursday.

The activists say of the Madleen, “She may be small, but her mission is powerful: To break the silence. To challenge Israel’s illegal blockade through nonviolent direct action. To stand firmly and unapologetically, with Gaza.”

Intentionally Starving Palestinians
#FastforGaza Today is World Hunger Day, and I am joining the #FastforGaza to protest the treatment of the people of Gaza. The state of Israel is blocking all food and lifesaving aid from reaching Gaza, with the full support of the United States. People are dying from starvation. In protest, I am eating no food today and drinking nothing but water from sunrise to sunset. I hope my small symbolic act encourages an end to this terrible and preventable catastrophe.
