Reading Charles Eisenstein's recent post 'Peace' this morning has caused me to re-examine my life's work for peace.

The center cannot hold
At the collective level, a loss of sensemaking erodes shared cultural and value structures and renders us incapable of generating the collective wisdom necessary to solve complex societal problems like those described above. When that happens the centre cannot hold. James Allen
Stories of faith in action
I've been thinking a lot about a passage from Scot Miller's book, Gospel of the Absurd. He writes that intentional non-violent responses to specific situations are not usual "NOT because they are too difficult an ethic to maintain, but because we do not live in communities that seek out opportunities to embody such faith on a larger scale."
When Iran Diplomacy Worked
As a Quaker, a pacifist, and a human being, I am profoundly saddened by the Israeli attacks on Iran. This moment is deeply personal to me. In 2015, I worked closely with others to advocate for the successful approval of the Iran Nuclear Deal. I believe it is important to tell this story now, as a cautionary tale for future peace and justice work. To try to learn from history's mistakes, such as exiting the Iran nuclear deal. To consider this lesson in the future and deepen our commitment to work for peace.
Intentionally Starving Palestinians
#FastforGaza Today is World Hunger Day, and I am joining the #FastforGaza to protest the treatment of the people of Gaza. The state of Israel is blocking all food and lifesaving aid from reaching Gaza, with the full support of the United States. People are dying from starvation. In protest, I am eating no food today and drinking nothing but water from sunrise to sunset. I hope my small symbolic act encourages an end to this terrible and preventable catastrophe.
Hunger Strikes
Hunger strike means to go without food in solidarity with those suffering from hunger, from famine. It also means that hunger has striken the children, the people in Gaza and the West Bank.
Efforts to call attention to Gaza
It was for myself. Almost an act of desperation. Just not knowing what else to do. So the idea was how could this number be visualized? Behn Samareh
(Endless) War Is — The Answer
The war machine learned the lessons. The conscription was changed to a volunteer army. And the nation became used to seeing sanitized versions of the ongoing, endless wars this country continues to ignite.
Stop Famine in Gaza
One thing that hasn't changed is the humanitarian crisis there. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) that has been the backbone of the provision of humanitarian aid has been the target of false claims and political attacks aimed at defunding the agency. You can use the tool described below to send a message about the need for humanitarian relief in Gaza, and supporting the work of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to you Congressional representatives.
