We’ve been given the opportunity to live out our ideals, to fight for our values, to be the community and the people we always said we were.There are Home Depots all over the country. There are many other appropriate places to protest. Army tanks will soon be parading in the Capital. Go there if you can, and say no. Our friends, neighbors, and coworkers are being targeted. It is disconcerting to see both the domestic and international imperial forces of this country exploding at the same time. With the deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles at the same time the Freedom Flotilla vessel Madleen was boarded by the Israeli Defence Forces in international waters.

This direct conflict between federal executive action and state governmental opposition immediately elevates the situation beyond a localized law enforcement matter, into the complex area of constitutional power and federal-state relations.
Presidential Authority & National Guard
The TL;DR here is that Trump has not (yet) invoked the Insurrection Act, which means that the 2000 additional troops that will soon be brought to bear will not be allowed to engage in ordinary law enforcement activities without violating a different law—the Posse Comitatus Act.
